No locked ecosystems, no proprietary lock-in, no black boxes — hardware, firmware, and software. Every drawing, board, and line of code is yours to study, modify, and build on. Own your machine completely, repair it on your terms, and improve it alongside a community that shares every upgrade.

SAFETY BY DESIGN

On enclosed versions, safety is built into both hardware and software. Open the door during a cut and the spindle stops instantly: a dual-channel coded magnetic interlock triggers a relay that physically cuts spindle power, while the firmware halts the axes and moves head up. The controller continuously monitors the relay's mirror contacts — if a contact ever welds or fails, the machine blocks any spindle start and reports the fault. The emergency stop runs on its own circuit, independent of the software and the wireless connection.


Together these achieve Performance Level c (PL c) per EN ISO 13849-1 — the level that makes Piccola suitable for use in workshops, makerspaces and classrooms.
